DESCRIPTION:CONTRA DANCE CALLING 101\n\nWITH BETH ROBINSON\n\nExperienced North Country dance caller Beth Robinson will lead three successive workshops at The TAUNY Center in Canton for participants to learn how to become contra dance callers. In fun and interactive workshops\, participants will learn the language of the dance calls\, including standard actions\, how to give clear directional and etiquette instruction\, how to plan for a complete successful dance event. The goal of the workshop is to broaden the local pool of dance callers to continue to pass on the traditions of this vibrant form.\n\n\n\nParticipants will learn to call a dance and by the end of the workshop series actually do so (under Beth Robinson's guidance) at the May 4th Contra Dance at The TAUNY Center! *Participants must attend all three workshops in order to be fully prepared to call a dance.\n\n \n\nRegistration is required\, and space is limited. Register for additional workshops happening on 3/2 & 4/6\, 2-4 pm. Based in Potsdam\, NY\, she has called dances across northern New York and New England\, as well as in Ottawa and Montr al. Over the years\, she has been the regular caller for Contra Dance series in Potsdam\, Canton\, Saranac\, and Saranac Lake\, NY. Beth is known for her style of gentle humor and ease in teaching multigenerational groups of various sizes.
