SUMMARY:Fiddling Bear Concert with Dan Berggren
DESCRIPTION:FIDDLING BEAR CONCERT\n\nFEAT. DAN BERGGREN\n\nSaturday\, October 14th\, 7 PM\, $15\n\n\n\nTAUNY is pleased to announce a new season of our beloved Fiddling Bear Concerts\, intimate shows at The TAUNY Center featuring traditional music and themes that evoke the North Country's local environment\, history\, and culture. The first concert features one of our favorite Adirondack musicians\, Dan Berggren!\n\n\n\n"Dan Berggren is the sound of the Adirondacks\, as much as the water lapping against the granite shore of the lake or the loon echoing in the sunset or the wind tossing the spruce tops." ~ Bill McKibben\, author & environmentalist\n\n\n\nDan Berggren is a tradition-based songsmith who writes with honesty\, humor and a strong sense of place. His songs explore the many dimensions of home\, hard-working folks\, taking care of our planet and each other.\n\n\n\nDan's roots are firmly in the Adirondacks where he was raised on land that had been in the family for five generations\, but his music has branched out across many borders. Since 1973 he has entertained audiences throughout New York State\, from Texas and Kentucky to Michigan and Minnesota\, and overseas. Some of his songs have been symphonically arranged\, giving Dan the opportunity to perform with orchestras in Fredonia\, Ithaca\, Syracuse\, Indiana and West Virginia.\n\n\n\nThe award-winning musician and educator held various jobs before devoting his life to music full-time: working in the woods with a forest ranger and surveyor\; radio producer\, writer and announcer for the American Forces Network Europe\; professor of audio and radio studies for 27 years at the State University of New York at Fredonia\, where he was also a sound designer for theater and dance\, executive producer of numerous public radio programs\; and owner of Sleeping Giant Records\n\n\n\nTickets are limited\, and children 10 and under are welcome to attend for free.
