DESCRIPTION:HAMMOND SCOTTISH FESTIVAL\nThe Hammond Historical Museum will celebrate over 200 years of Scottish Heritage at their 6th Annual Scottish Festival on Saturday\, July 13\, 2024. Enjoy a full day of Scottish culture featuring the popular 5K Kilt Run/Walk\, Battle on the Border Highland Games\, music\, dancers\, and plenty of children's activities! \n\n\n\nThroughout the grounds\, one can explore family connections with clan representative\, purchase unique items from a variety of craft vendors\, and interact with authentic weaving\, spinning and blacksmithing demonstrators. For more fun\, there is a Scottish photo booth with a beautiful enlarged background mural. Kids can have fun "storming the castle" via a great little obstacle course or enjoy the small petting zoo or the "Wee Bairns" activity tent. Five museum buildings with some very cool displays & local artifacts will be open throughout the day.\n\n\n\n2024 EVENT UPDATES & NOTES FROM THE FESTIVAL PLANNING COMMITTEE\n\n"We are so delighted to have Kilrush band & Ottawa Reel Dance Company return\, as they give so much pleasure to the festival attendees. There will be other entertainment as well as penny whistle & Gaelic lessons. The Highland games have become a great favorite\, with men's and women's categories & the famous caber toss! With an expanded field\, the games can now have vendors & clans tents surrounding the athletic field. There will be demonstrators (i.e.\, weavers & blacksmiths)\, a kids' petting zoo\, obstacle course\, wee bairns tent & more! This year we will have 3 food vendors\, so you should not have to wait in line for your food. Maple Brewing will return with its craft beers & Dark Island Spirits will have tastings.
