DESCRIPTION:Madrid Canoe Regatta\n\nThe Madrid Canoe Regatta is a series of canoe and kayak races held annually over two days on the first full weekend in June\, on the Grasse River in Madrid\, NY. The weekend includes recreational races of three miles\, amateur canoe and kayak races of 9 and 13 miles\, as well as pro races.\n\n\n\nThe pro races include a 1-mile sprint race and 9 and 16 mile marathon races. Amateur and pro marathon races include a 1/4 mile portage around the Madrid Dam. \n\n\n\nCamping is available on-site free of charge or book nearby lodging. The races are co-sponsored by the St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers (SLVP) and Madrid Canoe Regatta.\nRACE DESCRIPTIONS\n\nSaturday\, June 7\n\n\n Madrid Mile is a one mile C-1 Pro sprint race.\n C-1 Pro race is 9 miles including a 1/4 mile portage around the Madrid dam.\n C-1/K-1 Amateur Marathon\, a NYPRA points race\, is 9 miles and includes a 1/4 mile portage around the Madrid dam.\n Recreational Races are 3 miles in length and upstream of the Madrid dam\, circling an island at 1.5 miles\, and then returning to the start/finish line\n\nSaturday\, June 8\n\n\n C-2 Pro race is 16 miles and includes a 1/4 mile portage around the Madrid dam.\n Amateur Marathon race is 13 miles and includes a 1/4 mile portage around the Madrid dam.\n Recreational Races are 6 miles in length and upstream of the Madrid dam.\n\n\nREGATTA DETAILS\n\nPreregistration is encouraged to save time on race day.
