DESCRIPTION:Learn about the Recovered Confederate Submarine on September 24th\n\n \n\nThe Confederate H. L. Hunley was the first submarine to sink a warship\, on February 17\, 1864   although she was lost in the process\, along with her crew. Earlier tests of the Hunley saw the losses of more crew members\, and in total she caused 21 Confederate deaths. The Hunley was raised from Charleston Harbor in 2000\, and is now on view in North Charleston\, SC. Learn more about the Hunley when retired Navy Chief Ron Day speaks at the next North Country Civil War Round Table on Sunday\, September 24th\, 2 p.m. at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association.\n\n \n\nVisitors who own items with Civil War provenance are encouraged to bring them to the event for a "show and tell" session before the talk.\n\n\n\n \n\nThe St. Lawrence County Historical Association at the Silas Wright House is open Tuesday through Thursday noon to 4 p.m.\, Friday noon to 6 p.m.\, and Saturday 10a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission to the museum is free\; admission to the archives is free for members and children\, $2.50 for college students\, and $5 for the general public.  The St. Lawrence County Historical Association is located at 3 E. Main St.\, Canton.  Parking is available in the back of the SLCHA\, next to the museum's main entrance.
