SUMMARY:SLCCHC Book Club - "A Midwife's Tale" by Laurel
DESCRIPTION:SLCCHC Book Club - "A Midwife's Tale" by Laurel\n\nJoin us for our very first SLCCHC Book Club meeting. As we continue to celebrate the Semiquincentennial of the U.S. this year\, we look forward to sharing meaningful stories that represent our 250 years of history.\n\n\n\nThe 2026 Book Club will explore our history through a variety of lenses. Join us at any time! This month\, we will be reading "A Midwife's Tale" by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. This book is based on the diaries of Martha Ballard\, who was an 18th-century midwife who attended 816 births over 27 years.\n\n\n\nHer diaries were written from 1785 to 1812 in Hallowell\, Maine.\n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, call us at 315-386-8133 or e-mail aassistant@slcha.org\n\n\n\nPhysical books will be available for preorder at the Museum Gift Shop through 5:00 PM on March 19.\n\n\n\nYou may add the book onto your registration ticket\, or you may contact us to purchase your book separately by March 19.\n\n\n\nBooks are $15 for new condition. After March 19\, we won't be able to order a copy in time for you to read before the meeting.\n\n\n\nYou can also purchase the book at another location or borrow it from the North Country Library System or another library network. Audiobooks are readily available\, but physical books and eBooks are limited.\n\n\n\nPlease contact us if you are unable to find a copy through the library system or Libby. We can help you request a library card from another library.
