The end of World War One, women voting in their first election in New York State, and a statewide quarantine in New York - 1918 was surely a busy year. But the influenza that attacked the nation is rarely spoken about. Learn more about the 1918 Flu Epidemic when Bryan Thompson speaks at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association at noon on Thursday, October 18^th. Bryan Thompson, a seventh generation St. Lawrence County native, is the municipal historian for the town of DeKalb. While deputy and town historian, he received the Hackman Research Fellowship and the Dearstyne Award for Excellence from the state archives.
 
The Brown Bag Lunch Series is a popular lunch lecture series dedicated to the memory of Patricia Harrington Carson, who founded the series during her 24 years as a Trustee of the St. Lawrence County Historical Association. Pat Carson was active on numerous SLCHA Committees, and was an article writer and issue editor of the SLCHA’s history journal, The Quarterly.
